The Unholy Trinity: Asthma, Allergies, & Eczema

My youngest son has suffered from a myriad of allergies since he was just months old.

Mikey broke out in a scaly rash on his head at just about four months old. We thought it might be regular old cradle-cap, but brushing it out just made it worse. His pediatrician said that it was actually eczema, and with his little hands, my baby would claw at it until it bled.

The rash soon spread all over his body and by age one, the eczema was causing his fingers and toes to split open. He was miserable, and I was sad that all the creams and ointments in the world weren’t helping.

“So, Who In His Family Has Allergies?”

Doctors would ask me which of us two parents had allergies and eczema, because the two were “usually hereditary”, they said. “Neither of us,” I would reply, and they would shake their heads and say “it had to come from somewhere”.

We were scratching our heads too. Neither myself nor my husband had any problems of this magnitude; and we had asked our parents to make sure.

Later, we learned that the trilogy of allergies, eczema, and asthma usually go hand-in-hand. If a person showed signs of two, he or she almost always has the third one, if only in a mild form.

We found that Mikey also had food, animal, and dust mite allergies, when he became old enough to have the common “skin tests”. Last year, as he began playing more aggressive sports like football and soccer, we discovered that he had sports-induced asthma.

The Vaccine Factor?

Recently, I’ve been reading about all the toxic ingredients in the vaccines our children are required to receive. I haven’t completely gone to the extreme and refused any vaccines for my children; my kids have had theirs already, and won’t require any more for a long time. I think it’s a decision that families must make for themselves.

But I did realize that around the time my son began exhibiting all of these allergy symptoms, was near the time he first received round one of his shots. That might explain why doctors were mystified that none of our other family members had serious allergies and eczema.

I began to wonder what was in those vaccines. I didn’t like what I found out.

Vaccines contain formaldehyde, mercury, aluminum, fetal animal lung and kidney cells, chick embryo, and ingredients similar to antifreeze, among other things. We’re not told that stuff, of course.

All of these toxins have to go somewhere. There is an effect. How else to explain the skyrocketing cases of allergies (to the point of banning peanut-containing products in schools), and especially asthma, in the U.S. over the last 30 years?

Get Rid Of Those Toxins

A unique supplement called liquid zeolite was put on the market a couple of years ago that has some remarkable testimonies for many, many serious conditions and diseases. It acts like a cage, trapping allergens and toxins and removing them safely from the body. Here are some real testimonies:

Beth’s Story:

“…My name is Beth. I live in Texas, and the product that we are using is the (liquid zeolite). And my daughter has suffered from Asthma since infancy, starting at about 3 months….She is now 20 years old. We have struggled all these years to find something to help relieve her asthma, and since we got her on the zeolite product, and within a few weeks her asthma has disappeared…”

Vicky’s Story:

“My name is Vicky, and I’m a physician’s assistant. I have a grandson who was born with tremendous amounts of allergies, and he has asthma attacks so severely he’s been hospitalized five times in the first two years of life.

When he was two was about the same time that I learned the (liquid zeolite). Since that time his results have been absolutely remarkable. He has not been hospitalized once. He has not had a severe asthma attack. He has not had to take any medication for asthma. All the rashes on his body have cleared up. He’s growing well. He is now a healthy four-year-old, and just doing great….”

While there is no one treatment that works the same for everyone, liquid zeolite seems to be the healthcare breakthrough for many diseases, including allergic conditions.

A growing number of people are tiring of waiting for traditional medicine to give complete relief to those who suffer from allergies, asthma, and eczema. In response, several families are turning to supplements to meet their needs. They also want to know why. Why the increase in allergies, especially life-threatening ones, and why the spike in asthma cases???

Many kids are suffering for reasons that we don’t really know. What I do know is that something triggered my son’s problems, and a good deal of research suggests it could very well have been the vaccines that we’re told will keep our kids healthy.

In the meantime, there is something that can be done. Until we find the answer, liquid zeolite seems to be the solution.

Natural Cure for Baby Eczema – There Is a Solution!

In babies eczema usually appears first on their scalp and face (if around the mouth, it may well be a sign of food allergy / intolerance). It then spreads to the rest of the body affecting mainly the insides of the wrists, elbows and the backs of the knees (the skin in these areas is more sensitive and moist due to sweating).

The standard treatment for eczema involves an administration of antihistamines (to relieve the itching by suppressing the production of histamine) and an application of corticosteroid creams (to suppress the inflammation in the affected area).

Inflammation however serves an important purpose since it is the body’s primary response to infection, allergens or injury. It provides us with a warning sign that something is irritating the body and it calls for the immune system to deal with it. In eczema, inflammation is the body’s attempt to fight the allergens, pushing them out of the system so that they cannot cause any serious harm inside the body. This natural process acts as a self-preserving mechanism, without which the body would get poisoned.

It can be said that eczema flare ups are the result of overwhelmed elimination channels due to excessive amounts of toxins / allergens circulating in the bloodstream (unfortunately steroid medication greatly contributes to the toxic load thus pushing the disease picture deeper).

Prescribed medication (such as steroid creams and anti-histamines) often treats symptoms associated with inflammation such as redness, swelling and pain. However, it also suppresses the body’s natural defense mechanism thus confusing the immune system. The results are often short-lived which explains why stopping the treatment will result in eczema coming back.

When we use steroid creams we cover up the symptoms of inflammation, so the body is forced to find an alternative outlet. The suppressed inflammation may also sometimes move to other areas of the body (e.g. the bowel wall, which may result in a leaky gut or compromised absorption of nutrients) or it can move deeper and manifest as asthma or hay fever.

If the triggering factors remain unaddressed for a continuous period of time, the immune system will be subject to a lot of pressure. Eventually, it will get thrown out of balance at which point the eczema becomes chronic. In order to find a permanent freedom from eczema, we will need to delve deeper to get to the root cause of the condition.

What we will discover is that most cases share a common factor – OVERACTIVE IMMUNE SYSTEM. Our immunity is a very sophisticated system that would do anything in order to defend the body against foreign invaders (incl. allergens). If the immune system is under chronic pressure, its function becomes impaired.

Your baby may well be genetically predisposed (since atopic conditions often run in families), but more often a weak immune system is the result of the following:

  • continuous exposure to allergens (which may lead to a leaky gut resulting in excessive amounts of toxins circulating in the blood)
  • inadequate nutrition
  • lack of sleep
  • environmental pollution / exposure to cigarette smoke
  • excessive use of antibiotics

When we manage to eliminate allergens, the body gains enough energy to initiate the healing process. The healing will occur on a priority basis starting with the more important organs (e.g. the intestines, the liver) moving onto the less important ones (such as the skin, nails, hair). That explains why the natural way of healing seems to take longer to notice any improvements since it literally heals the body inside out (as opposed to superficial skin healing).

This is only a small excerpt from my book Heal Your Baby’s Eczema which is based on the notion that every baby is unique thus the cure will be different in each case. It also addresses factors that trigger eczema whilst showing parents what practical steps to take in order to eliminate their baby’s eczema for good. It is an in-depth guide for all parents who are willing to take matters into their hands and help their baby recover the natural way!

Eczema in Babies and Toddlers

August 10, 2011 by

Eczema in babies and toddlers is usually much more severe than it is in adults so treatment should be at least as aggressive. Fortunately, most children stop having outbreaks by around age 6, although they can recur later in life. Usually these later occurrences aren’t as severe as childhood eczema though. If your baby or toddler has eczema, here are some tips on what to do.

First of all, make sure to keep your child’s fingernails trimmed very short, as most children will scratch themselves when they itch, regardless of how many times they’ve been told not to. Toddlers simply don’t have the self-discipline necessary to suffer through an itch, and because children’s eczema flare-ups tend to be more severe than most adult’s, it becomes even harder for them to resist scratching. If fingernails are short, there’s less likelihood that children will spread the rash through scratching and also less chance of scarring.

Moisturizing the skin is just as important for babies and toddlers as it is for adults, so after your child’s bath, make sure you moisturize his skin well. It’s also recommended that during the bath, you substitute lotion for soap. At least twice a week, add an antiseptic to baby’s bath water to prevent bacterial infections that could develop in the skin. During after-bath moisturizing, use mineral oil or some other heavy moisturizer rather than lotion, as heavier moisturizers are better for baby and toddler skin during eczema outbreaks.

Keep in mind that using lotion instead of soap in the bath and moisturizing afterward with oil is bound to make your baby or toddler slippery, so make sure you take precautions. It’s best if you can sit on the floor during bathing sessions instead of trying to bathe baby in the sink or in a tub on a counter. Be prepared for accidents! Place a soft mat on the floor and place your bathing tub on the mat, then sit cross-legged on the floor (or any position that’s comfortable and secure) before you begin the bathing ritual. Bathing your baby or toddler daily is recommended, as young skin is more prone to bacterial infections if it’s not kept clean.

Doctors do often prescribe steroid creams for babies and toddlers, so do use those according to doctor’s orders. Don’t, however, use over-the-counter hydrocortizone creams or anti-allergy medications without first checking with the doctor. Some allergy creams that work just fine on adult skin may not be suitable for your baby’s skin.

As with adults, children often have eczema flare-ups after eating certain foods. Keep a food diary for your child and pay attention to what foods your child eats just prior to outbreaks. Often, babies and toddlers are allergic to dairy products. Try goat’s milk instead, or for babies still on formula, opt for soy based formula instead of cow’s milk. Breast-feeding is always best for babies if possible, as it builds a stronger immune system and may minimize eczema outbreaks in babies and toddlers.

9 Home Remedies For Baby Eczema

August 9, 2011 by

It is a widespread common disease. But in general, babies are more likely to suffer from eczema. And as baby skin is soft and sensitive, it requires more gentle treatment. Thankfully there are quite a few home remedies for baby eczema you can try.

1. Oatmeal baths are recommended by doctors, grandmothers and mothers for the healing power of oatmeal baths. While this bath may be a bit messy, it soothes and clams the dry skin and itchy parts of the body naturally. See the resources below on how to make your own oatmeal bath or buy your own. Either way, remember to purchase only organic products.

2. Use a natural aloe Vera lotion several times a day, especially after bathing baby. Reapply as often as need to keep baby’s skin from drying out. Avoid any harsh cleansers and make sure baby is getting plenty to drink to moisturize from the inside out as well. Incidentally breastfed babies experience fewer and milder episodes of eczema.

3. As you know that dry skin can be the reason for eczema, so you ought to prevent your baby’s skin from drying out. Nevertheless, you ought to not use any scented products, or products that contain alcohol. Kid lotion ought to be no issue, and it ought to be applied around two times a day.

4. Virgin Coconut Oil. One of the many health benefits of virgin coconut oil is the healing properties of the skin. Virgin coconut oil is also an antibacterial which may be especially helpful for those people with very raw eczema conditions who may be prone to infections of the skin. This oil is now widely available in may health food stores and grocery stores.

5. Eczema can also occur as a result of food allergies. If you have a family history of food or environmental allergy, your baby may also be experiencing sensitivities to something in his diet or environment. Check with your baby’s health care provider and consider an elimination diet or other measures to track down allergens.

6. Keep bedrooms, living areas free of dust mites (a common eczema causing agent).

7. Avoid scratching at all cost. This is thought about to be the most important system to cure your kid eczema. However, this is not an simple thing to do at all because your kid does not understand that scratching makes things worse. Most children instinctively scratch. So, what you ought to do is to keep your baby’s nails short.

8. Some babies experience eczema because they are allergic to detergents, which are found in nearly all personal care, cleaning and laundry products. You may want to investigate using pure soap for all cleaning and laundry as well as bathing for some time to see if your baby’s eczema improves.

9. Besides, try not to make use of any strong soaps, or bubble bath which could irritate the baby’s skin. After that, apply natural moisturizer in order to lock in water from the bath.
